On Wednesday, June 13, Zitycard was present at the official signing ceremony for the renewal of the agreement for the development of Accessible Taxi Services. During the event, the Zaragoza City Council and the   Autotaxi Cooperative approved the City's contribution of up to €1,280,000 for the provision of this service, representing a 37.6% increase compared to the previous year.

In 2021, a year marked by Covid-19 restrictions, the Accessible Taxi service reached almost 100,000 uses, nearly doubling its figure from 2020. This service has established itself as an attractive transportation option for people with reduced mobility.

The Councilor for Public Services and Mobility, Natalia Chueca, stated that “this service is highly valued by people with mobility issues who meet the necessary criteria to access it,” and added, “the proof is that, from nearly 60,000 uses recorded in 2020, we have reached almost 100,000 in 2021, and our goal is to continue growing.”

Personalized and affordable service

The fare for the Accessible Taxi Service using the Zaragoza Citizen Card is €0.76, equivalent to the price of an urban bus ticket paid with a multi-trip card. The rest of the fare, up to a maximum of €12, is subsidized by the City Council. This process is made possible through the NFCity® mobile application, developed by Zitycard, which allows user identification and payment via the Citizen Card.

Last year, a significant improvement was introduced: an increase in the subsidy for residents of rural neighborhoods in Zaragoza, covering up to €24 per trip. In the last quarter of 2021, the average cost of all trips was €10.50.

In addition to providing an efficient service that directly benefits people with mobility challenges, the Adapted Taxi service has proven to be crucial support for the taxi sector, one of the industries most affected by the current health and economic crisis.
