On June 15, the Zaragoza City Council, through the Public Services and Mobility Department, renewed its collaboration agreement for the Accessible Taxi Accesible.
In 2020, despite the health crisis, approximately 60,000 trips were made. This figure has motivated the workers providing this service, as Adapted Taxis became a crucial support for the sector, one of the most affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Currently, more than 840 users benefit from this service, all thanks to the DFA Foundation, which manages the registrations and usage control.
Through the NFCity Taxi service provided by Zitycard, more than 100 installations now enable payments for the Accessible Taxi service with the Zaragoza Citizen Card and manage personalized discounts.
Nearly 10 years after the launch of the Citizen Card, the goal of surpassing the number of adapted taxis required by European regulations has been achieved, continuing to generate savings for the City Council while improving the quality of service offered to users.
Thanks to the personalized discount systems provided by Zitycard, the mobility of people with reduced mobility has been facilitated in Zaragoza, generating an average income of nearly €1,000 per taxi.
Despite the mobility restrictions during the pandemic, the service has returned to normal, even increasing the quantities managed in the adapted taxi service.
En este 2021 el Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza destina 930.000€ a subvencionar los desplazamientos por la ciudad de personas con movilidad reducida.
Improvements introduced in this exercise include expanded discounts of up to €24 for trips to rural neighborhoods, the control of routes to optimize service with records of start and end for each trip, and the management of incidents through automation to facilitate operations for both taxi drivers and users.
