La Generalitat tendrá capacidad de activar y operar con servicios de blockchain
ZEUMAT ZITYCARD SL, Alba Ferrando Barrio

The Generalitat will have the capacity to activate and operate blockchain services for digital procedures through its own means, specifically through the regional tool company, Infraestructuras Públicas i Servicios de Telecomunicaciones i Certificación (Istec), part of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Model.

With the publication in the Official Journal of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV), for the first time, of the blockchain management service fees from ISTEC, the Generalitat will become the first public administration in Spain to implement blockchain services in official procedures. The main objective of using blockchain in the public administration is to contribute to transparent and participatory governance models.

This blockchain network will be provided by BlockchainFUE, a "spin-off" of the  Universidad de Alicante. This cooperative, formally founded in 2020 by eleven founding partners, includes Zitycard as one of them.

Juan Allegri, CEO of ISTEC, emphasized that this technology "allows for the digital registration of transactions or interactions, providing the transparency, efficiency, and added security that is so necessary," creating the necessary traceability to contribute to transparency, facilitate cooperation, and create a new form of relationship between citizens, businesses, and management.

SUSTAINABILITY AND THE ENVIROMENT

With a commitment to environmental support, ISTEC works to integrate blockchain technology with the Botànic policies. Support for environmental commitments and the European Union's recommendations on blockchain. Therefore, the system chosen by the Generalitat, unlike others, is a sustainable blockchain system, meaning it does not involve massive data processing (or data mining, in technological terms), leading to a significant reduction in energy consumption.

This technology holds great potential for electronic management as it will improve efficiency and effectiveness in the public sector.
