The A Coruña Citizen Card Management System, awarded to Telefónica, and implemented by Zitycard since September 2021, is now operational.
This project is part of European Funds that support Digital Transportation in "Smart Cities." It involves the implementation and adaptation of this management system to meet the needs of the Concello de A Coruña. The aim is to update and enhance the capabilities of the existing A Coruña Millenium Card.
The A Coruña Millenium Card provides functionality to identify citizens, manage access control, and make payments for municipal services. These functionalities are carried out through the physical card itself, mobile applications, third-party integrations, and the management platform.
Additionally, the Citizen Card Management System allows for the management of citizens, cards, balances, transport passes, as well as the management of purchases and top-ups.
This system simplifies closures and settlements across various areas that use this Citizen Card Management System, as well as the collection of payments in postpaid modes.
The Millenium Citizen Card, through the system, allows users to pay for bus or tram tickets and use passes with the corresponding fare applied to the cardholder (pensioner, student, etc.).
Key functionalities include identification at municipal libraries, services like Bicicoruña (bike sharing), payments at controlled parking points (ORA), and payments in taxis, adapting the fare based on the type of user.
