The Pontevedra City Council has awarded the UTE DEMESIX-SICOM-ZITYCARD a contract to develop, supply, and implement a management platform for on-demand public transport services. This initiative aims to improve urban mobility and user communication as part of Pontevedra's Sustainable Urban Development Strategy under Spain's 2014-2020 Multi-Regional Operational Program (POPE), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).
Zitycard has partnered with Demesix y Sicom, companies specialized in fleet management and technology development, to provide a shared, on-demand mobility platform using collective transport services like taxis. This pioneering solution in Spain seeks to enhance Pontevedra’s mobility efficiency and offer citizens a smarter way to access public services.
The project includes a sustainable mobility platform, a parking tracking system, and a pedestrian occupancy monitoring system using smart camera technologies.
Zitycard will develop innovative payment methods including:
- Cash or credit card payments, with transactions recorded in the system, identifying the amount paid through a non-STD payment method
- Contactless card payments, ensuring secure transactions with reinforced authentication mechanisms
- Payments using ID (DNI) linked to a virtual wallet, where the DNI serves as a unique identifier for managing payments
- Payments through the user’s app, using QR code scanning for validation and transaction recording in the virtual wallet
